World Global University was founded as the Metropolitan Technical Institute, a specialist college established to support Britain's industrial advancement during the height of the Victorian era. The founding vision emphasized practical education combined with theoretical excellence.
Following two decades of growth, the institution received degree-awarding powers and graduated its first cohort of Bachelor's degree students in Engineering and Applied Sciences.
In recognition of contributions to wartime research and national advancement, His Majesty The King granted the institution a Royal Charter, officially establishing it as a comprehensive research university.
A major building programme began, establishing the modern campus at Frenchay. New facilities for medicine, law, and humanities were opened, tripling the institution's capacity.
