Our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that World Global University has taken during the financial year ending 31 July 2025 to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our supply chains or in any part of our organisation.
Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking, all of which have in common the deprivation of a person's liberty by another in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.
World Global University is a higher education institution registered with the Office for Students (). We provide undergraduate and postgraduate education across five faculties, employing approximately 450 staff members.
Our supply chains include, but are not limited to:
We recognise that certain sectors within our supply chain may carry higher risks of modern slavery, particularly those involving manual labour, migrant workers, or operations in countries with weaker legal protections.
The following policies contribute to our approach to identifying and preventing modern slavery:
Requires suppliers to comply with ethical standards and declare their anti-slavery measures
Enables staff and third parties to report concerns confidentially
Ensures robust checks on employment eligibility and agency workers
Protects vulnerable individuals within our university community
To identify and mitigate modern slavery risks, we have implemented the following due diligence measures:
We have identified the following areas as carrying higher risk within our operations and supply chains:
For these higher-risk areas, we conduct enhanced due diligence and require suppliers to demonstrate their compliance measures.
We provide training to relevant staff to ensure they understand the signs of modern slavery and how to report concerns:
We measure the effectiveness of our anti-slavery measures through:
| Indicator | 2023-24 Result |
|---|---|
| Percentage of high-risk suppliers with modern slavery clauses in contracts | 100% |
| Procurement staff trained in modern slavery awareness | 100% |
| Number of modern slavery concerns reported | 0 |
| Suppliers terminated for modern slavery non-compliance | 0 |
This statement was approved by the University Board of Governors on 1 September 2024 and is signed by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the University.
"World Global University is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all our activities and supply chains. We will not tolerate modern slavery in any form."
